Phil and Ally Rumble the Thunder
Congratulations to Phil Thomas on his new position as Manager of the Northern Youth Squad. Phil’s appointment was announced recently on the All England Netball Website.
“The Thunder youth squad also looks forward to being managed by Phil Thomas, head coach of the successful Stockport Netball Club.
Paul Harper added, “I have known Phil for a number of years and what he doesn’t know about statistics isn’t worth knowing! Phil has a good knowledge of coaching, excellent administration skills and was appointed as manager for these reasons.
“We have a fantastic squad of talented athletes and we all can’t wait to get the new season under way and together, will relish the challenges that are ahead.”
Last season Thunder finished second behind Brunel Hurricanes. This season they will be looking to top the league with their young elite team.
The players in the talent league are developed as potential players for the Superleague squad. Throughout the season they will experience high pressure games which showcase their skills.
Catch Thunders first game of the national talent league on 5 December when they take on Surrey Storm at Sheffield EIS”.
Everyone at Stockport wishes Phil lots of success in his new role.
Congratulations also to Phil’s daughter Ally, Samurai player and Spartans manager, on her selection to the Thunder Youth Squad for the second season. Ally is hoping to build on her performance with the squad last year and become a regular fixture in their starting line up. Well done Ally
